How can photoshop be used to effectively manipulate images?

How can photoshop be used to effectively manipulate images?
150 words

Photoshop can be used in many ways to change images, using the quick selection tool in combination with other tools you can easily delete a person from a photograph without leaving a gaping hole in the picture (so long as the focus is on them and not the environment). this is done through taking material around the selected object and using that to fill in the blank.

Furthermore you can also use photoshop's spot healing brush to get rid of scars or spots from a character. This can make a person more attractive and so encourage more people to come to the film.

In addition some tools allow you to change the brightness of a photograph allowing you to manipulate the exposure after the photograph has been taken. This can be very useful since it means you can correct mistakes made in the past and even improve the photograph by creating the ideal colours and brightness.

Through making the image fluid you can use photoshop to make the pixels behave like paint. this means you can manipulate the photo as though it were a malleable painting, allowing distortion and adjustment. this can be useful in a film poster, if your actor isn't heavily built enough to fit a character you can use this tool to make him seem more muscular.

What is positive and negative leading?

Negative leading refers to less than normal spacing in fonts and text, positive leading refers to more than normal spacing in fonts and text. It is often used to create dramatic visual impact in headlines, advertisements, posters, etc. This tool is most often utilised through software like Adobe PageMaker, Adobe indesign, or Quark'Xpress.

How our silent film adheres to the styles and conventions of the genre and what could've been applied better.

The film is silent.
The film has black crop borders.
The film is short.
The film was done in small sets.
The film has a simple plot.
The film has noise and static.

The camera is stationary throughout the film, it never pans or moves.
The emotions of the actors are conveyed through obvious body language.
The context of the film is explained through text.
The soundtrack is suited to the context of the time of the silent film genre (no dubstep or electric music).

What could i have done better:
I could have roughened the edges around the film screen to make it seem more like a silent film. I was smiling and laughing at the situation in parts of the film - this disrupted the realism of the film. I should have changed the exposure slightly in parts of the filming and some of the footage was probably not fully horizontal. I could have added credits at the end of the film.

What i learnt from the process:
I learnt how to use the premier program - how to import files, save files, edit footage ect. I also learnt how to use a camera more effectively, specifically how to alter exposure among other things. I learnt how to convey emotions dramatically through body language.

How i plan to test myself in the future:
In the future i will learn how to use the camera more effectively and i will try to be a better actor. I will also try to use other effects and features in the premier program

Why are mobile videos so short compared to desktop videos?

Why are mobile videos so short compared to desktop videos?

This video is comedic and designed to be quick and short, there are many videos like this on Facebook and other social media sites. They have to be short because  of a number of reasons. Firstly Facebook isn't a video oriented site, it also has many distractions and this means that any viewer is likely to have a short attention span. They are unlikely to be interested in anything for more than a few minutes and so extremely short videos like these tend to be watched more than others and shared more as well. Furthermore since Facebook is often accessed on mobile the viewer might not be sitting down, they might be moving around, going to work or at a friend's house. This in turn means the videos need to be short in order to garner any attention.  Since it appeals to a large audience since you might find this funny no matter what age you are at.

On the other hand this video is almost 9 minutes long. it has a very specific audience - those who are interested in the gaming industry and even more particularly games on mobile devices. it is not based on comedy unlike the video above, it is a discussion video that is designed to send a message and evoke emotion. So in many ways it is much more complex than the dramatic chipmunk video, it is able to get this complexity because it is designed to be viewed on desktops and TVs.

First Blog Post - warning probable ramblings shall ensue.

I am dyslexic.
I don't let this define me but it is and has been a defining aspect of my life for a long long time. Despite this i love to read and write especially short stories and such.

I walked to the collage today just like other collage days and probably every working day after this post. It only takes me about 20 minutes to get here but i like to carry around most of my house in my backpack so maybe that affected the speed of my travel.

To be honest, this isn't important.
Person reading this, you are a lucky fellow, sooner or later this post will likely be obliterated from the internet but as you read it now know that it is a time capsule of my life in this moment.

A time capsule containing useless ramblings... You're welcome.
